It is not often that I am asked to go and review a restaurant that I am not actually allowed to write about or take any photos of while I am there. However that was the case when I was invited to Chamber of Flavours through Beast Magazine, who I am now a writer for. The whole concept is a multi-dimensional dining adventure with an exploration of flavours but everything is a mystery and a complete surprise. I have to say it was very refreshing eating a meal without taking photos of it first.

When you arrive you are given a welcome drink, and then you head on to the bar area, where you are greeted by the staff and asked to order your drinks for the rest of the evening. The drinks are then delivered to you later in the experience when you start eating and you take them along with you through the rest of your journey. So be sure to order enough in advance as you will not be able to order more until you reach the end.

Food wise I am sworn to secrecy about what we ate (these press photos are from a previous event), however I will say that any allergies or dietary requirements will be met. We had a vegan, a vegetarian, a gluten intolerance, and a chili allergy in our group and each dish was tailored to suit their needs. I should note that this is not Michelin Star cuisine, it is inventive but not overly so. However we enjoyed what we ate and certainly had more than enough to eat.

The joy of this dinner is the experience, it is very interactive and you will find yourself immersed. Be sure to dress appropriately, wear trousers and leave the high heels at home. It is loads of fun and perfect for those who enjoy experiences. Even though we were invited on behalf of the magazine I thought it was good value, though I’d advise you to go with people you know well as you don’t get to talk too much.

Chamber of Flavours chapter 4 is located in Hoxton, you will be sent the address when you buy tickets. The price is £55 – £ 75 per person. For more information you should check out their website.
